How aggressive can parrot cichlids be?

I currently have two parrot cichlids. I introduce them and a larger pleco at the same time to my tank. Nobody bothered each other, as I had expected. They also don't bother the haplo catfish or the botias I added later on. My question is, what types of fish are they notorious for fighting with? Is it just other cichlids? Would they go after smaller fish like danios or neons? Would they leave fish larger than themselves alone normally? I'm planning for a 75 gallon tank and am just weighing my options here.

Also, I am planning on buying a tank used, and part of the deal is they have two cichlids and a pleco they're getting rid of too. This is part of why I am asking my question, if the cichlids will not co-exist, or if they wouldn't mesh well with a community tank, I'll give them to my LFS. Also the pleco might go to the LFS too, bc as I understand it, plecos of similar size may feud. And no, at this point I don't know what type of cichlids or what kind of/size the pleco is, but I did ask and am awaiting a response.

cichlids will eat neons, imo larger fish would be ok, but anything small enough to eat is fair game.

I dont know anything about pleco's sorry

yeah, i would probably post back here once you find out what kind of cichlids and pleco they are. i know that some plecos can be territorial with other males but i think just regular plecos should be ok.

and of course with cichlids, it's going to be a gamble even with species that are usually ok if you get a wild one so can't say yet unless we find out more info :)

In my experience, it's hard to say how aggressive they'll be. I have a 6" parrot cichlid a geophagus, silver dollars, blue rainbow fish and plecos, and all get along beautifully. However, if I introduce anything big, they chase them; which is how my other two parrots (both 4") got their own tank :) One of which has 3 keyhole cichlids, and the other 2 rainbow cichlids.

Just to put closure to this issue, the two cichlids are African, and they'll find a happy home with my LFS.

Thanks for your help though!

My parrot is extreamly aggresive. You know they are a cross of a severum and red devil. Any smaller fish is most likely, at some point, going to be a target. If you keep them well feed they will not feel as much of a need to go after others. Good luck.
