How Big Are Those Bubble Counters!!??!!

The ones that come with the Hagen CO2 System. From what I understand they make a good passive reactor as well.
Can someone enlighten me as to the effectiveness and dimensions of them. I want to use it in my 10 gal.

dimensions : 7.5 inches tall 4 inches wide .75 inches deep

very good for a 10 gallon, I get about a 20 ppm co2 reading.

Wow, that's huge for a 10-gal! Why don't they pack the coily ramp tighter and reduce the size? There's no reason for it to be that large, they could pack plenty of surface area into a smaller space. And I'm not even an engineer!

Travel length

That ramp packs 60 inches of travel path into that size. Compare that to lettting a bubble just rise to the surface.

It is a very clever design, with the bubble's horizontal travel aiding in diffusion. The path itself is very nearly one minute, so one can count the bubbles visible and be very close to the bubble per minute rate.

I AM an engineer and I think it is quite clever and well done. I find nothing with the design left to tinker with, but for trying to reproduce the mixtures more cheaply, for they did a great job with that, also.

it's up against the glass and quite easily consealable. It is actually closer to 1/2 an inch deep, so it doesn't interfere with aquascaping or fish swimming. The reactors that are in a cyllindrical shape are much more odvious and obtrusive, IMO.

Aaron, what kind of filter are you running in your 10? Just curious since you said you were getting about 90% absorption.

I had it for some time, it worked, not very well, but it worked. I think I wasjust putting too much CO2 into it at once.

I thought we were talking about the cylindrical ones. I saw a pic of this one, and it does look better.

But still, I'm a biologist, not an engineer. Compared with the surface area to size ratio of the lung, nothing impresses me
