I have the female in the glass tower and it seems that the male is almost done. But I'm not sure, my dad sais the nest should be thicker then just one layer of bubbles. There are like stacks of bubble in the corner of the tank and nest but the outer flanks are just one layered, should I wait?

first, could you post a photo of the bubble nest? then answer these questions:

is the male going back and forth between his nest and the female?

is the female really plump and is showing the vertical barring? also showing interest in the male when he comes up to her tower?

if yes to the above questions, then i would say you could release her. there most likely will be some chasing before they get down to business, and the male will make new bubbles as he goes about putting eggs in the nest, so i wouldn't worry too much if the nest isn't huge yet.

Ohhh alright, well I still can't find my camera. The male is constantly going back and forth but sometimes sits at the botto for a few moments. The female has very distinctive vertical barring and she is quite plump for her size. I'm just kind of worried.

i'd say try releasing the female. if they don't breed this time you can always secure the female in her tower again and give the male some more time to build more nest.

you fed these guys with good meaty foods prior to putting them both in the breeding tank, eh? they do need a lot of conditioning prior to spawning, especially the male, since he will go a few days without food when tending to the eggs and newly hatched fry.

frozen bloodworms or freezed dried?

bloodworms, brine shrimp, and other frozen foods are great for conditioning bettas for breeding.

iv had males refuse to build more then a dime size nest untill i released the female. they would chase the female around and frantically build his nest..these males normally ended up with larger nests after i released the females, or he just might be done, the female will inspect the nest and if its to her liking they will breed, iv had females destroy nests and had to start over so, i say let her go and watch them closely.

Well te female jumped out of the glass tower oer ight and this morning I found her with a strip of finnage lost from her caudul tail. I did let her go but she didn't inspect the nest or anything. The male was chasing her and she nearly jumped out of the tank. So I put her back into the glass tower and wait for the male to repair and build his nest again.

use a tupperware lid on top of the glass tower to keep the female safe until it is time to release her again.
