A friend at a LFS who has been keeping reefs for like 20 years suggested I get around 2" of live sand in my going-reef tank. He said you still get the de-nitrification without the "problems" or maintenance or something (not sure what he was getting at) with a deeper sand bed. So I have about 2" of "live" aragonite in my tank. Will this remove nitrogen or just trap debris?
