How do I quarantine?

I know that you get a container/tank and use your main tanks old water and put the fish, then quarantine for 3 weeks and have hiding places for the fish, but what else do I need to do? Do I just change the water when I change the main tank? Or do I need to do it more frequently? Do I need to put some sand in from the main tank into the QT?

You could put sand in if you wanted, but the inportant thing is to make sure that you've cycled it fully.

You could use a filter from the main tank (or, if you dont use one, buy a cheap one that'll work for the QT tank, and leave it in the main tank for a while) and just put that in the QT tank whenever you need it.

Try not to load it up w/ too much sand/live rock, keep in mind *IN WORST CASE* you may not be able to reintroduce anything if you have to medicate with copper or the like.
