How do you get a job as a manager at Petco or Petsmart and what does it pay?
My friend is looking.

Fill out an application would be the first step.

lol
nice
Sounguru, if it would be that simple the country wouldn't be in the mess it is.

No, no, I think he's right. Filling out an application would indeed be the first step.

I worked at a PetSmart for about a year and a half at one point. I was in there all the time because we have a gazillion pets, and one day the fish manager asked if I wanted to work there because I was there so much. I needed the extra cash (and the employee discount didn't hurt either), so I filled out the ap and started the next day.

That probably isn't how it usually works, but it worked for me. :)

I would say that following up the application submission with a phone call once a week or so to see if your friend can get in for an interview might be the next step.

yes, posted jobs
rainbow thanks, not the way it usually works here in NY, unless you know someone.
It's who you know and not what you know!

I made it to the interview with the Petcare manager, he asked me a bunch of questions. The reason I didn't get the job- I didn't know that Vitamin C is a staple that Guinea Pigs don't produce. And he seemed to be of a different mindset than me. I said 20% change of water once per week for fish.. he seemed to think 20% per month was fine. So do your reaseach- especially so on pets you own or have owned.

now, that is funny
Sorry you didn't get the job Trigger
Some managers don't understand, even if you think of the profit and sales, you would make more money by saying at least 20% weekly on the water changes, looking from the business side and selling more water conditioner.
You never know who you will be interviewing with.
I am in the IT recruiting field and I have to say I heard crazy stories during the interviews, both from candidates and the interview managers.
All I have to say is that you have more chances to land something, if you know someone. Some of the job posts are just a formality.
