Our blue mystery snail hasnt moved for a few days now. Its been sitting there with is trap door partially open. I took it out because I heard you can tell by smelling them somewhere and it reaks pretty bad but when I took it out the trap door seemed to fully close but I dont know if the snail did it or if it was gravity pulling it shut maybe or something else, any sure ways of telling?

If you pulled it out of the tank and didn't smell anything it's alive. You'll know in a second if the snails dead by it's smell.

usually a nasty horrible snail is a tell tail sign. if the shell door closes when you take it out of the water, it should be alive, unless you held the snail upside down. another way to tell whether the snail is dead or alive is to hold the snail in front of a bright light and look for a heart beat. this might not work if the snail has a thick shell.

your snail might be temporarily "hibernating" but the smell makes thats somewhat unlikely. how long have you had the snail for?

We've had the snail for a few months now. It was upside down when i took it out so I'm thinking the trap door closed from gravity. It does stink something terrible. How do I dispose of a snail? I'll have to get another one sometime, I really liked the blue color.
