How long do i keep in?

I have a HOB filter how long should the cartriges stay in the filter till i change then to a new cartridge?

if you use carbon, change it at least every two weeks. otherwise the carbon gets filled up and stops working. i don't use carbon, and just mechanical filter media and i don't change it unless it gets too dirty to rinse off with tank water.

and have patience, sometimes it takes more than 10 mins for a response!

Rinse and reuse till they fall apart,then buy new ones.

use tank water to clean them. most people dont use carbon. i think it its like a week before it stops work. i would never throw away the spong or anything. thats where all the good bacteria lives.
