How long for Anubias to root?

Too many tanks are almost enough...

Had an Anubia Nana rubber banded to my Resin dridtwood thingie for over a month now. Lots of roots, new ones even!, but it don't seem to want to attach itself (want to remove the rubber band-bit unsightly).

Read they will attach to rocks so I would think it'd be no problem with a resin thingie!

Aard: I've had A. Nana and have A. Barteri presently...my experience is similar to what you've encountered. The roots tend to be more stout and straight rather than fine and intertwining. Given enough time, these plants will provide a shower of roots but they don't impress me as a plant that will readily attach itself to rocks.

Any other ideas?

If you aren't bothered by the rock being obscured you might leave the rubber band on and get a good coating of java moss to cover the whole deal. That would hold the Anubias on there.

I agree with what others have said. In my experience thus far, anubias has taken a long time to attach itself to driftwood. I'm talking well over 1 month.

I think part of it probably depends on your set up. My tank has 1.5 WPG and no co2. With higher light and co2 you can probably cut that time down significantly.

Not sure if you are adding fertilizer to the tank, but I've noticed that Fluorish seems to create significant increase in root growth in my Anubias. I believe it contains a B-vitamin which is also a component of "terrestrial" plant root growth fertilizers. Fertilizers can have wild side effects like algae so beware.

Using Florrish, Florish Iron and Excell....
