I have noticed that there are many people on this forum who seem to know anything and everything about aquariums. I was just wondering how long have you guys been in the hobby? I've only been around two years, so I am still very new. ;)

44 yrs of keeping, 31 yrs in the trade.

Had a couple FW tanks while growing up until I was 19, left the hobby then, got back in a few years ago when a friend was moving out of state and sold me his 90g reef. Got back into FW again about a year ago and now have planted 10, 29, 40, 5g shrimp tank running along with my 3 SW tanks.

had fish as a kid, we had a nice 40g freshwater tank with some kinda pleco and angel fish, along with other random ones, my dad set it up and everything. got back into it about a 6 weeks ago, started with a betta bowl, now ive got, 2.5g betta tank, 2 10g tanks and a 10g hex. im quite addicted

Contrary to some peoples opinions of themselves, no one knows everything lol, It just seems that way. We all have our little areas that we seem to concentrate on more than other areas. Some people like to dive in and learn while other just like having them. Time in the hobby doesn't mean much at all. Just depends on how involved you immerse yourself. It all comes down to how much time you have to devote to the hobby.

I have been keeping them off and on for several years, I can't think of a time even as a kid that I wasn't fascinated by them. I was sup to 22 tanks and then decided it was too much for me. Have cut it down to about 10.

I first started keeping fish in the early '70s (My first tank was a metaframe 10 gallon). I stopped in the early '80s and didn't pick it back up again until around 2006. Boy, have a lot of things changed ! I'm still learning...and re-learning...lol

Since I was 12 years old with a 20g tank and two goldfish from petsmart that developed ick almost immediately. After they died, I hopped on the internet and read everything I could about setting up a fish tank properly. I'm 24 now and still learning everything I can from the internet.

appx 30 yrs. give or take with a five (or so) year break when my kids were really little. Got back in about four years ago. My kids each have their own planted tank now.

"WHAT! I'm suppose to rely on 2 suction cups to keep my heater from falling all the way in?!"
