Hello,

I have an extra 10 gallon that I would like to put african dwarf frogs in.
What would be your suggestions on stocking? Thanks...:frog:

if all by themselves, id say you could do 4-5 easy. they are social little frogs and will enjoy each others company.

4-5 is good, I found them to be messy eaters and crappers, might wanna get a good filter on it.

Be very careful about buying them also. Alot of places end up selling african clawed frogs for dwarf frogs, but there ends up being a biiiig size difference! They pretty much look the same when they are small(except if it's an albino, you KNOW it's a clawed frog!)so be real careful. In a ten gallon you might be able to keep 5 dwarfs, but you could only end up keeping one clawed frog in it when they reach adulthood. Just remember to check the hands out. If the front hands are webbed, it's dwarf. If not, you've got one of the big guys!

Aslong as you've seen a dwarf frog and a clawed, you'll know the difference though. Clawed's have a slightly different shape, more fat and muscle, and are usually pretty big compared to the dwarves. If you had both to compare, you'd notice some differences. I'd suggest getting some pictures and comparing if you're not sure.

Not a bad idea. I've run into quite a few different places selling dwarfs that were really clawed. I bought three small pigmented ones advertised as dwarfs. I've kept clawed for years, so I knew right away, but alot of people wouldn't. And if it's an albino, it's certainly the big guys, dwarfs don't come in albino.

ADF are awesome.. just not when they wake you up at night....

they go reeeeeeeeeeeek reeeeeeeeeeeek, scared me the first time.

Btw, just some personal experiance here... Don't get them from Wal-Mart or any other place that has thin ones, dead ones, doesn't feed them, or has a reaking fish department, lol.

Btw, thx Barth ;)
