I have a 65 gallon Hex. 14" panes, 26" across in any direction, 29" high. It is heavily planted with real and silk plants and has a blue background. It has a Magnum 350 for filtration. I do a 25 - 30% water change weekly.

I have 4 Bolivian Rams (trying to get a pair), 10 zebra Danios, 3 Guppies, 1 Bristlenose, & 2 hillstream loaches in it right now.

I would like to put angels in there because the top 2/3 of the tank seems pretty empty. How many can I put in there for life? And what kind are heartier, I know some like altums are pretty difficult to keep. I also am thinking about adding 6 cories.

I realize any guppy fry would become snacks for the angels and am ok with that.

I wouldn't put more than a trio in there, but they would do better in a longer tank to really appreciate them.

I would advise moving the hillstream loaches to a more suitable fast flowing colder tank.
 
The only one's you need to stay away from are the black angels they are the hardest to keep.
When the Angels get to adult size the guppies will be a tasty treat.
 
you can start out at 6 juvies to see what forms a pair or a couple of pairs but be ready to move some due to aggression what mostly happens is that 2 will form a pair bond and constantly harass even kill other angels in some cases in longer tanks you can have a couple of pairs one stays on one side and the other stays on the other side i had angels in a 120gal at one time and i was able to keep 4 of them together for awhile, the most common to keep would be the scalare type with the black stripes on a gray body and then thier the others like blushing and calico types but if your going to be serious about water quality and specialize in superb care than you can go with the ever demanding black veil lace angels basically a real treat with the angel lovers of fish to this date there is some amazing black veil angels on the market make sure you take your time in as how long a pet shop has had them and what care was provided good luck my friend..
 
Thanks, I will be looking online for angels. My LFS quit selling them as his suppliers stock kept dieing within 2 weeks. There isn't another LFS or Petco, etc.,within 50 miles or so and I refuse to buy them from Walmart.
 
yep do not buy angels from wal-mart or any other fish so to speak
 
I would stay away from the large stores like Petco or Walmart when it comes to buying angels. I do find that the marble or koi angels are easier to keep, you can start from the quarter size plus. If you have a breeder in the area it helps.

I wouldn't go for more than 3 in this tank.... and as far as what is better, I've never heard that blacks are more difficult to keep over any others. For my experience, Angels are Angels. Water maintenance and diet are the things to take care of. If these are on par, you should have healthy fish.
