I want to put together a planted tank with schooling rasboras and possibly 2 rams. I have a 10 gallon just lying around but I can get a 30 gallon for 10$ I don't think 8 rasboras and 2 rams would do well in a 10 but would they be fine in a 30 gallon?

Also are galaxy rasboras hard to find?

I don't see why the 30 gallon would not be sufficient.. I have no idea about the galexy rasboras.

They're beautiful but wild caught which sucks. I may try to get online and find a store that sells from breeders or breeds there own. Red harlequins are beautiful too though. Rams would be fine with the rasboras wouldn't they? I plan on having a heavily planted tank, plenty of caves on the bottom with some sort of bottom feeder possibly a loach or shrimp, not sure yet.

in a 30 a pair of rams and 10-12 small rasboras would be fine, or 8 rasboras and 3-4 dwarf cories.

I agree with the Chicken... two rams and the rasboras would be good in the thirty and not the ten.

if it was the 20g you should only go with the rams. the 30g in addition to larger water volume also allows for different areas of the tank - top, middle, bottom. the 20 is mostly bottom, but you need those extra areas so the rams don't constantly chase the rasboras.

I would never imagine rams being any sort of threat to rasboras...or really any fish at all.

I have about thirteen harlequins in my 20g long with a female betta, three SAEs and a pearl gourami. The tank isn't the least bit crowded and everyone is having a blast living in there. One of the healthiest tanks in town.

I really don't see why 2 rams and 8-10 rasboras in a 20g isn't okay, it's not like rams are agressive. I think 2 rams, 8 rasboras and 5 dwarf cories would be fine in a well-maintained planted 30g.
