How many fish should I put in a 47 gal to start the cycle and about how long will that take?

The boards are really into fishless cycling which is a biased opinion. Go with bio spira, which is bacteria in a bottle and add some inexpensive fishes. It will cycle your tank in one day. I tried it a couple of times and in 24 hours the tank was cycled. People will say that bio spira does not work but it does. I just set up a new tank last week.
