In terms of bioload per gallon? (fancy guppies, lets say we seperate male and females so there shouldnt be any fry issues) Water changes would be done regularly, (weekly or as indicated)...etc etc

1 guppy per gallon absolute maximum IMO. Preferably 2 gallons.

1 guppy per 2 gallons IMO. (remember the charmin commercial with the bears, less is more!)

Well, ideally we all want to give our fish as much room as possible, but Im asking about how much is too much.... so in this case, guppies can follow the 1 per gallon rule?

if you only have guppies, then yes, you can follow that rule. if you are planning other fish, follow my rule.

1 Guppy per gallon will be pushing the limits. I would go no more than 1 per 1 and 1/2 gallons. 1 Guppy per 2 gallons is safe.
