How many otos will be needed in 75 gallon aquarium?

A better question is, what is the rule of thumb for otocinclus? I mean how many gallons of water per oto? I have cichlids right now but am hoping to give away cichlids when getting too big. My tank is too small for them & need to give them to other people with larger aquariums.

It depends more on what else is going into the tank with the otos. An established 75 could easily support upwards of 10 otos.

There is no gallon per inch stocking rule for otos or for any fish. You could easily keep a good sized group of otos in a 75G tank....perhaps 10-12....providing there is plenty of plants and algae for them. They are very finicky eaters and don't readily take to flakes, wafers or pellets. Many otos starve to death in tanks without enough algae to support them.

10-12 otos in a 75? They are an inch long. I would think you could put more than 20 or so???

The problem with adding more otos than 10-12 isn't an issue with bioload, but rather trying to ensure that they don't starve to death.

how many

I currently have 5 in my 75 gallon loach tank and they are great workers, if you go to the loach section and look for the 75 gallon hi rise tank you can get a idea on what they feed on.
