How many Otos?

just an fyi. Otocinclus are best kept in groups..make sure the tank is mature and has a good supply of algae..they will devastate the algae in short order.

also if you are talking about the addition of 'Oto's" to the 35 you have in your sig tag..I see angels
oto's + angels =BAD

while some folks do it..it tends to be a bad mix with adult angels who will see the otos as food and attempt to eat them..where upon the oto will use it defense mechanism to avoid getting eaten..which ate spines near the gill plate..large angels can consume them but less than large and you may have a serious problem.

You could do 3-4 in the 28g and 4-5 in the 35g IMO.

Is your 35g tank planted? That would give the Otos more algae, as well as provide more hiding spots. I personally keep 4 Otos in my 55g with an Angel (isn't an adult yet), but it is heavily planted, so I don't anticipate any problems.

2-10g? I must be over doing it. But before them I had so much algae now just enough. 20g=10 otos

I pronounce them like autos.

Is your algae on rocks/glass or in your plants?

The little suckers are great on smooth surfaces, but don't seem to want to eat out of difficult-to-reach spots. I guess they can't manage fiddly bits with their little sucker-mouths.

i do 1 per 10 gallons, but they do good in groups so my minimum tank size for them is at least 55 gallons. 1 oto kept my 20 gallon clean. (i had 3 in the 20 gallon, they dropped one by one to there death)

I had a terrible algae problem in my 125g...it was BAD! I really hated taking all the plants and deco to clean every 2 weeks..but luckily i came across a thread that mentioned ottos..well let me tell you..these lil' guys are algae eating machines..I went to Petco and got 5..yes 5 for 125g..the sales girl looked at me crazy when i told her the size of tank they would be cleaning...my tank is now spic and span..i love these lil' guys..hard workers i tell ya :bowing:
