I have had my 37 gallon salt tank up and running for about 8 months now.. all i have in it are 2 false percula clowns and 1 skunk shrimp. I have moderate algea buildup in the tank.. i decided to buy some Atlantic turbo snails.. i bought 5 of them.. how many do i need to take care of my tanks algea problem?

I have 3 turbo snails and about 15 hermit crabs in my 30 gallon tank (11 months old) and they are slightly behind on algae duty. I could use 2-3 more snails for the glass and rockwork. Drs. Foster and Smith give 26 snails and 10 hermit crabs with their algae attack pack designed for 30 gallon aquariums

The turbo snail is quite an amazing algae eater. My heater mouting bracket (about 4 inches long) was completely covered in thick hair algae that was 1-2 inches long. I spotted my turbo snail as he started eating the algae on the bracket. 90 minutes later the bracket was completely clean; spotless  I think he ate his own body weight worth of algae in about an hour and a half.

I have one per gallon....okay I try to have one each per gallon. For my 75 I have 50 turbo, 25 ummm......I don't know-they are the smaller ones, then I have 50 red legged herms and 50 red leg.

I came home today and 3 of my snails are at the top of the tank half in and half out of water.. is that normal?

Mine do that on occassion. I always just leave them alone. They always ended up moving later.
