I currently have 2 dwarf gouramis in a 20 gallon tank, one male and one female. The male tends to be slightly aggressive towards the female, nothing to bad, just chasing her around the tank. I had heard that gouramis do best in pairs but i was wondering if i should get a second female gourami so that the one I have now isnt always getting picked on. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated...thanks!

yes, i would recomend an extra female to spread the aggression

you can only have one male gourami in the same tank, since you do have a male gourami i would get 2 or 3 female gouramis to go with the male gourami to lower its aggression.

I have several male gourami's in my tank....I dont see why you cannot have more then one in the tank unless it's for breeding purposes

im talking about the same breed of male gouramis such as dwarf or blue gouramis.

no, it can be done but only if the males are a similar size (preferably young ones) and there are lots of plants etc for them to hide in if chased. it can be done but it's probably better to just stick with one male
