i was at an online fish store... angels were like $8.99 and discus......$269.99!! HOLY S**T! Are all discus this expensive? This makes little sense to me since discus are supposed to be a popular fish in the aquarium. Also, I'd like to have a couple discus and angels in my new 60g amazonian juggalo styled aquarium. peace!

That's about right...for the ones that aren't necessarily show-quality. Anyone ever tried getting Jack Wattley to part with one of those breeders? :)

I have seen some nice 2" size ones where I live from $18.00 - $30.00.
The one lfs has a beautiful breeding pair of 6" cobolt blue for $139.99.
Boy if I had my 29 gallon tall set up and money. :D

I think about 2 inches is a good size to start with, and you should be able to find them around $20 to $40 ea. (US $)

I got my 8 Discus from A Discus Dream.

i can order in a blue diamond long-finned discus and for me to buy will cost $450 so to sell about $900-$1000:eek: no way in hell im getting that they wont give it to you unless you have a 4ft DEEP tank for its fins:p

cost is the only reason I havent kept discus yet....those things are exspensive.

I've always tried to get smaller fish so they 'grow in', rather than starting with adult fish. I think it's part of the process of aquarium keeping - watching young fish mature, and possibly breeding them. I've had Angels, Oscars, Convicts, and Guppies and Mollies breed in the past.
