How much poo is normal for a filter shrimp?

I just got my bamboo shrimp on Thursday. Poor guy was at Petco picking at a algae tab with the other shrimp, and he brightened up the minute he got in my tank. He was so excited to find the filter output! So, he's colored up nice and is filtering like crazy, and seems really happy. My sister says when she was up at 11 last night he was even swimming around. However, today I noticed a RIDICULOUS amount of poo in the tank! It's not from the kuhlis or tetras. The poo looks like brown pellet food, and thats what I thought it was at first.
Is this normal? Did he just make a huge BM because he is finally getting good food? How much poo is a bamboo shrimp supposed to make?? Hopefully he was just moving the old stuff out of his system to make room for the new stuff... :headshake2:

Mine did the same actually. I woke up one morning going "Did I wake up in the middle of the night and feed the tank?", because their poop basically looks like mini pellets.

They can poop quite a bit, but nothing like the day one bombardment.

Okay, thanks!!! I was really confused when I saw all those pellets, cause the tetras NEVER let a pellet hit the ground. I don't mind a decent amount of poo, I just wasn't expecting the tankwide pooage I woke up to! I'll just have to vacuum extra well this week.

Well, I don't have a pleco, but I do have a brig and this guy made WAAAAYYY more poo last night than the brig ever has. It was a much poo as you'd get from a brig in several weeks. I'll have to take a pic tomorrow. It's a little hard to see against my black sand, but it's ridiculous.

i didn't know petco stocked bamboo shrimp! was that the only one, like it was a shipping mistake or are they usually at petco? and what did they have them for sale for (price)?

No, they've been stocking them since they opened, several months ago. They were 9.99 each, not too bad for a filter shrimp. They usually have them in.
