How small should veggies be for snails?

This was from a post awhile back

I just clip the open bag to the top of my tank lid. Then use a little cup to add, like 4 ounces of tank water to it every 15 minutes or so. Some people close the bag back up after adding the water, and let it float.
The last fish I got the bag was just the right size that it fit snugly in the opening of the tank so it was in the water for temperature then I clipped it to be able to add water directly in the bag.

Thanks for referencing my post, karna! :)

Yeah, you really should add some of your tank water gradually to allow the new fish to get used to any differences in water chemistry. If you just float the bag, all that does is make temperature the same. After an hour or more of acclimating, I net the fish out of the bag instead of pouring all the contents into my tank. I say that because store water might have diseases and parasites in it, and you don't want to introduce those to your system.

That may be the best piece of advice we see offered today....

I do it this way, but I didn't always. Why did I change my ways? Duckweed.

You're welcome! That's the way I did it with my last fish and it worked great!

Thank you all so much! I'm planning on buying fish this weekend, and I will try the add-the-water-to-the-bag thing. :-)

yeah, try some others. I've had good luck with carrots, zucchini, squash, spinach, and broccoli. Blanching until soft really helps because their mouth parts aren't strong enough to get at fresh, firm veggies (or plants). I've also heard canned green beans (French cut) work pretty well, rinsed of course to remove as much salt as you can :)

As for the size of the veggies, I slice the zucchini about 1/4 inch thick, cut it in half and scewer the slice on a plant wrap and drop in the tank.

Next day, the plecs, snails, mollies and platys have left just the rind...
