how to acclimate shipped fish. help!!!

Prime will lock ammonia(actually converts it to ammonium which is safer)

I use a simple $3 bottle of decholorinator from walmart as my water conditioner. I don't really need the fancy bells and whistles of Prime. A drop per 2 seconds sounds good. What I do is first do a slow drip (like what you're doing) till the water level reaches the top of the container (I generally start off with just enough water from the bag so that the fish are just barely submerged). Afterwards, I pour out most of the water and then do a faster drip (fast enough to fill the container in about 10 - 15 minutes). The purpose for the faster drip is to make sure the temp is the same (during the slow drip, much of the water is backed up in the tube and may lose some heat).

Btw, I've found that these are the best way to control water flow without tying cumbersome knots into the airline tubing:

i dont think i need to do the faster drip. the water isnt heated. i use prime bc its cheaper in the long run. i used tetra something and some other one and id use 2 bottles every 2 weeks or less. i use prime and i still have enough for atleast a month and i got it 2 weeks ago. plus it converts ammonia and all that jaz

Any fish that I have shipped aren't acclimated at all. I empty the bag/s into a bucket through a fine-mesh net and put the fish into the tank immediately.
