Hey guys, this may seem like a silly question...but what's the best way to catch a large pleco?

I need to get my larger common pleco out of my 300gal tank. What's the best way to go about this? He's too large to really net, and I wouldn't have the first clue how to go about grabbing him (I've seen lots of pictures...but I've never had a fish just 'hold still' so I could pick him up lol).

Advice and instructions appreciated lol.

you can try to lower the water level and try to get the pleco into a large Tupperware container
that might not work because of the size of the tank so you could try to put the box on the bottom and wait for him to swim into it and grab it out
the easiest way would probably be to get a large pond net and get him out with that and when you put him into the other tank let him get himself out
and if i were you i would not try to grab them as they are called armored catfish for a reason

If I need to catch a large fish i use wildmans but I usually direct it into a largish plastic bag with a hole in it to let most of the water drain out then use a second bag.but this really only works if you are tranporting from one tank to another-Anne

Definitely lower the water level and try to capture in another container is best with most large fish.

This would work if I were transferring him to a bucket...which is the idea.

Thanks guys, once again you've come through for me lol!
