I want to cut a 4X8 and then glue two acrlyc tanks into one L-shaped tank. I will use silicon glue to waterproof the the edge. The tanks size is 18X20X60.

How should I make the cut?
How close to the edge the cut needs to be?
What glue do I need to use?
Howwide should the glue application be?
Would glue be enough to keep the the two sides toegether?

Thanks,

dont know about the cuts but you will need an acrylic cement to attach them. check with the local plastic companies. regular aquarium silicon wont stick very well

IMO, its a real bad idea to cannibalize a tank that size. The joints of an acrylic tank are chemically bonded. The integrity of the tank would be jeopardized. You can't just take apart acrylic tanks and cut the pieces like it was a glass tank. Cutting thick acrylic on a tank that size should also be done with industrial cutting equiptment, like a wet saw, water jet cutter, or laser cutter. You'd be best off selling that tank and starting from scratch.
