I've read that mbuna will eat veggies.

I'm looking for ways to freshen up their diet. They eat biogold pellets and spirulina flake for the most part with the occasional frozen brine shrimp or herbivore lifeline cube, thawed first in a bit of tank water.

I've fed them zucinni a couple of times and they did well with that. I tried cucumber, but they didn't seem too interested. Also didn't seem too interested in crushed frozen peas.

With peas or lettuce / spinach do you put it in fresh or do you freeze then thaw it to soften it up? Do you smash the peas?

Thanks,
Randy

These are the beggies i feed my african tank.

Spinach- fresh but i blanch it for a few seconds to soften it.

Swiss chard(jsut tried this a few days ago)- fresh blanched it for about 3 mintues as it is tuffer and took a while to become soft.

Zuchini- usually frozen and thawed, I keep a bag of it in teh freezer as i don't use it fast enough. I have also fed it fresh and they ate that too.

cucumber- I feed it fresh and take out the seeds and skin.

peas- frozen, peeled and squished between my fingers so it becomes small enough.

carrots- only tried this once after we had left overs from supper. They were cooked through(steamed) and i broke off little pieces and squished them up like the peas.

baicall anythign you want try. It might take a few times befor ethey realize its food but they should come around.
