Hi there, i recently started out keeping fish and had originally cycled my tank in preparation. However, the plants decayed so much that i had to over haul the tank. Now im stuck with 1 cory, 4 guppies and 5 neon tetras in a completely uncycled tank. Is there a way for me to maintain a temporary holding until i can fully cycle my tank to hold my fishes? Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to AC!

You can keep the new fish in the planned tank but you will need to monitor the ammonia and nitrite and perform water changes as necessary to keep those levels as low as possible.

How did you cycle the tank initially? If you were using ammonia, definitely don't put the fish in the tank.

How large is your tank?

First read here https://www.fishforums.net/threads/rescuing-a-fish-in-cycle-gone-wild-part-i.433769/

If you cannot do what I suggest in that article, or do not want to, then
read here https://www.fishforums.net/threads/rescuing-a-fish-in-cycle-gone-wild-part-il.433778/

I have not been active on that site for many years now. So some of the links to references or pictures are bad and the info/pic is gone. The tesxt is all unchanged. If you have any Qs about what you read there, shoot me a PM here and, I am happy to answer them.
