HOW TO TRANSPORT FISH

so i finally got my jack dempseys to breed. i have been calling around to find a smaller chain pet store to buy them. i may have found one. my question is how will i transport these babies to the fish store. they arent near ready yet but id like to be prepared for when its time.
oh and anyone know how long it will take for them to be sellable size?
 
i would say about an inch long. i just put fry into a ziploc bag and put that into a bait bucket used for fishing! works wonders!
 
I've transported shrimp and endlers in buckets and in bags. Bags are better for day trips and usually overnight, but buckets for anything else.
 
i always just used ziplocks and some grocery store bags but that would depend on the distance you need to go. i used to use a bucket i rigged with a battery powered air pump and a sponge fillter you can get the battery powered air pump at walmart i liked having an extra seasond sponge just for this.

ULINE SELLS ALL THE BAGS ALSO SMALL LOTS CAN BE BOUGHT ON AQUABID. I get the fish store to give me big bags with every deal that way I always have a supply of them. Just blow them up with your air pump.
 
You should pay attention to the surrounding temp also. Is it too hot or too cold out side?
If the ambient temp is too hot, you need to put them in a cooler, place a couple of cold water bags on top of a bunch of old newspaper will do the trick.
If it's too cold, place some warm water bags the same way.
Remember to place some stacks of newspaper to separate the water bags and the fish.
