Huge Pacu

BTW there's only one tank, one really BIG tank. I tried to get a better shot of the whole tank but closeups are all I could get. Try to get 75 people to move out of the way for a shot....

Yup that's the one :D

I could have sworn there was more then 1 tank though. It's been a few years since I was there last so that's my excuse :D

I WISH I could find a store that stocked some larger fish..... I have been to every stinking one around me looking for an oscar big enough to join my 9" buddy Gulp. The look at me like I'm nuts..... Sounds like you have a pretty good LFS if they are attempting to educate the consumer vs. focusing only on the sale.

the only way you will find one that big in a pet store is probably if someone takes it back because it out grew the tank

they don't even get that big, max 36" and that's pushing it. The ones at the vancouver aquarium have been there since I was old enough to remember and they're only about 30-32", and the black pacu gets larger than the red pacu.

My neighbours pacu IS a black and I was told by my wife it was 37" when she was holding the measuring tape.

Yep. I have asked to be put on a list to get called if any are traded in.......but NONE of the LFS's around here will do such a thing. Their response....."Call us once a week and see what we have". So far it's been nothing..and I am getting tired of calling them. How hard would it actually be to have a dang "request list" of customer names and numbers??? Geez....

Too bad you're in Georgia. My LFS has 2 HUGE Oscars. They have to be atleast 9-10" or more.

One's almost all white, and the other one looks like Gulp. :p

Another LFS has 2 or 3 6-7"ers.

Chicago > Stockbridge for Oscars.

P.s. Nothing against Georgia. I was born in LaGrange (suburb of atlanta)

I know how you feel Gulp. I find tons of cheap tanks on ebay but they're always half a country away from me. Never nearby. Most of the stores around here don't sell large fish but there is one small LFS that has quite a few larger Oscars and Pacu. Mostly around the 7-8" size though. They regularly have different pleco varieties around 10" too, plus large goldfish and such. What about mail order? I know many people who get saltwater fish mail order and highly recommend it. I just can't justify spending $30 on shipping for a $1.50 fish. In your case, you're probably going to be spending pretty good money for a fish that size so the extra money for shipping wouldn't be AS bad. I'd watch your local paper too. I have noticed a few large tanks sold around my area that are usually stocked and not too bad of a price. I just never have any money at the time. There is a stocked 45 gallon complete saltwater system in my local paper for $250 but I don't have any money or saltwater knowledge to act on it. good luck, KYle

Snakeskinner,
If you get the money we can help you with the salt knowledge.
Sorry to cut in on another thread.
