Hurricane Ivan Updates

Ivan should pass over a fair chunk of both Jamaica and Cuba. That should take some of the steam out of it, hopefully.

After this season of bombardment, I think all new buildings in Florida will be built bunker style!

Actually, I am doubtful if there is much that will slow this one down (or "calm" it). It is a category 5 at the moment with winds at 160 mph. Even if it weakened to a category 4, it could easily gain speed/strength in the gulf. I have relatives in Tampa, so I know all about the worrying. However, I cannot imagine the fear in the ones who have homes around these areas. :sad

I agree on this one. The last 2 have been what 1 and a 3, but they still caused a lot of damage. Most people that was affected in the last 2 hurricanes are still trying to recuperate from them.
Another thing that we'll have to be watching for is flooding. The ground is still saturated from all the rain that we recieved.

The eye of that hurricane went right over us... Frances was about 20 miles or so south, but the winds lasted much longer.We can't handle another one at this time.....

Looks like no part of Florida is immune... good luck to all in the path of this one. Looks nasty.
