So- a lot of people know about the Spixi x Marissa hybrid where the male Spixi will fertilise a female Marissa... the result are plant eating menaces that can be further bred with Spixi to produce a Spixi look alike with the plant eating tendancies of the Marissa.

I was just reading a comment by Lupin that Cana's will try mating with tank mates of other species- I assume with no success.

I was curious what other kind of hybrid snails can be acheived or strive to be avoided in the home aquaria.

Any other hybrids besides Spixi x Marissa?

As far as I know, aside from the Asolene spixi and Marisa cornuarietis, only the Pomacea insularum and Pomacea canaliculata can likely crossbreed as well since both are on the same genetic line called canaliculata complex but I cannot back this up yet because I don't have insularums yet to test the possibility of it crossbreeding with canas even though both are similiar. One thing to bear in mind however is that with all apple snails, they do not discriminate copulating anyone. They will copulate snails regardless of its gender, species, size, etc.

That should be fun to watch when my Spixis arrive then... Brig on Spixi action should be interesting.

I hope one day to have an invert tank... (wanted it for a long time- just waiting for the place to put it) hopefully have a wider mix of snail species so was curious about their hybridization habbits and what was to be avoided.
