I <3 Predators

Basicaly the idea of growing them out in smaller tanks is
1.finding food is easier
2. It's easier to observe any possible health issues
3.As many species of polypterid/bichir are wildcaught it can double as a quarantine tank
4.They expend less energy chasing foods and going to the surface for air allowing this saved energy to be used for growth
5.Bichirs are not overagressive feeders gorwing them out in a smaller tank
means they do not have to compete for foods with more agressive feeders

Nice info Beblondie. :thm: :thm:

I will take that into consideration for my next bichir.

Im trying something new in my 75g. I dropped the water level down 3" roughly and am going to add water lettuce and such to provide cover for the bichirs and arowana. I have heard both will enjoy it also it will help to soak up excess nutrients so that maybe I can somehow get the upper hand on the hair algae and BBA that seem to be taking over. i hope it works

The problem with these plants is that the love bright light. Make sure you have enough bright light in your tank and you should be ok.

I've had trouble with water lettuce. No matter what I do, theyt always get burned, like they had no water.

I almost never see my arrow take a guppy. He's not quite six inches, so he's still got that baby cuteness about him, and he's gracefull in the water. I can always tell when he eats thought. He get's a guppy gut. He still strikes a little at freeze dried bloodworm, but spits them right back out. I guess he's waiting for fresh, the little snob!

are the water hyacinth better than? My light is brite enough to have algae like CRAZY. I just tried to go to one of the LFS and they had neither so I may be in trouble...
