I almost supported animal cruelty...yuck!

i always read that blueberry oscars were fed blue dye-laced foods...BUT i have not seen them in quite some time.

i also have read that they can also tatoo with a lazer.
feeding dye laced foos is still bad
it messes up their insides
poor little fishies :(
imo, just buy colored lights if you want to have schools of blueberry tetras, the color will never run out, and they dont get hurt ya know?
and if you get sick or bored, just change the color!
it dosent harm the fish in anyway(i dont think...its light), and you can have the fish you want...

it may make the whole fish tank different colored, but idk lol
......
whole thing just infuriates me

Most endlers are pretty much hybrids by now...I believe its pretty rare to get a "pure" endler strain. I may be wrong though...
your wrong lol there are plenty of pure endler strains in the hands of hobbyist
I don't think flame gouramis are dyed, this is dyeing:

I've seen some beautifully colored discus and cichlids some bright blue, reds, oranges, yellows, and greens are these guys also dyed?

Another question some of the foods have color enhancers are these enhancers natural ingredients or dyes. One brand is Tetra Color Enhancer

Beta carotene is responsible for color enhancing processes and can be found in carrots and I believe, paprika. I'd say this is a natural process and can be found in most foods. It does enhance the fish's coloration.

i think dying is extremely cruel. i purchased a breeding pair of blood parrots a while back, unknowni they were dyed that color. one was a blue/orange and the other was pink. they laid eggs every 3 weeks like clockwork. but they obviously never hatched. i had also gotten fruit tetras- unknowning off the terrible origin. but i have something to say. you think just a couple people(like us) will stop the whole dying process?? the asian breeders over there will find ways to keep the process going. we need like, the whole country to stop so their will be no demand for them. but still, those unknowning people will still continue to buy. just like those asian fish phone excessory thingies. people will buy anything. and ik there r several online sites that explain the process and all. but seriously. how many average people do you think will look it up? not many, ik that much. they hav better things to do. so how can we get the dying process out in the world so everyone knows about it?? thats my statement. Do widzenia!(yes i can speek some polish, and i have a quite ravishing british accent as well)

If eating dyed foods changed color that drastically we'd all be some funny colors... Mmm Red #40! I do know that eating too much beta carotene can make you orange, but you have to eat so much that you actually risk dying from lack of the 8 essential vitamins and minerals. Our cats and dogs eat dyed foods and they don't start growing orange or green fur.

Not that I agree with dying or tatooing fish, but there are all sorts of practices assosiated with this hobby that are not humane.

The removing them from their natural habitat (wild caught) to put into a glass prision.

The shipping of the them in a very stressful manner.

Selective bredding, which means that of the many that are born, only the ones with the characteristics that are desired are kept, the others a killed.

I am sure there are other things, like fishy cycling and fish being stunted from poor tank conditions.

I have hybrid fish and I have genetically altered fish. I don't have dyed, tatooed, or mutilated fish. Not because of any high ethics, but because I don't like how they look.

When you get down to it, the only humane way to have fish, is not to have fish. Might as well join PETA now.
