I am looking for a fairly easy egg-layers to breed...

there are numerous things you could try.
for a 15 or 20... let me list a few
convicts (these are like guppies they will breed in a half filled bucket if there are males and females)
Jewels (i currently have a breeding pair with fry in a 20 gallong)
Tanganikan shell dweller cichlids
Kribensis (sp?) (I have no personal experience with the last two but information is quite common, the kribs have a site dedicated to them.)
if you do ALOT and i do mean ALOT of reading you might be able to get a tetra to spawn but that is really hard so i would stick with the cichlids. Any of the ones i mentioned would work well. If you are looking for a good beginner fish then the convicts are it. Just buy a bunch and let them pair up and return the rest. Other than that you could go to maybe Jeff Rapps site www.tangledupincichlids.com and see if he has anything that you could fit a couple of in your tank.

I vote zebra danios. These are the first fish I have ever attempted to breed and they are a piece of cake. I think I have around 200 babies from this spawn and only one of them died (oh it was my fault and I feel awful!!!). But yea, they are **** simple to breed, and you can sell them for a decent price (ie: 2/25 cents). Good luck!
They're egg-eaters...that's kinda the downside. You need a larger tank for a small amount of fish, I believe...
