I can't believe I don't know what kind of fish this is!

I looked up the Convict too but the stripes just don't match. I have two of these buggers and the other one not shown in the pic you can barely see the strips. I assume it's a female. The body shape also doesn't match. I think these are green severum but I guess time will only tell! Thanks everyone for the info, it's really helped. I've only had fish for four years and I'm starting to realize that you really have to depend on ppl who know their stuff. My local pet store is very small and I traveled 45 mins to another store in a bigger place to buy this new batch. Apparently they too aren't the one I need to go to. In the past I've driven up to 3 hours round trip to a better store. Starting to think maybe going online to buy fish is a better option? Just tired of pets store that don't have the right info. Is buying online a better option? Perhaps I'll go down that route next time.

if you have a male and a female you wont have to worry about buying feeders for your rope fish.

One thing about rope fish, make sure you have all the openings in your tank covered as they love to wiggle out of openings in the back of the tank. I have lost a few ropefish this way.

Oh yes. I did A LOT of research before buying my rope fish. I know they are great escape artists. I also know they can survive out of water for up to 12 hours. I heard one story where a woman came home to find her rope fish on her kitchen floor and was able to put in back in the tank to survive. My "snake girl" as i like to call her is my longest living fish. She was my first purchase to my tank. I added another two years later even though I was told not to as they don't always get along if not brought together. Making two dens fixed that problem. Now they are best friends. I think the newer one is male as he is more olive color and has less top fins. Just going on what I've read.
