I got a "Blue Mole Shrimp" today. Any help advice?

Thanks guys. I'll be on the look out for more and hope I get lucky. He was the cutest shrimp ever.

captmicha;2810891 I added a couple of drops of Kent's calcium for his new exo. Could that have done it? [/QUOTE said:
That shrimp is a freshwater shrimp. Why would you add a product made and designed for marine aquariums? Nowhere on the product does it say safe or recommended for freshwater use. Nor do I see users here talk of using that for their regular shrimp. snails, crayfish, etc. If they do, I've missed it and stand corrected.

I'm not saying that was the cause of the death, but don't think I would use that again if you find another one.

I had a blue mole shrimp many years ago. It was the coolest freshwater item I've ever had. I didn't measure him, but I had him about a year and he was huge.

Then you'd be incorrect because this forum is where I was told to use it to slightly harden the water for inverts. Calcium chloride also happens to be in some fresh water fertilizers. Many people also use marine fish food for their fresh water fish. Many foods made for fresh water fish are made from marine fish and shrimp. Many marine products can and are utilized for fresh water usage.

Sounds good then. Thanks for the info.

I just find it odd that a company would lose out on the entire other half of the industry (freshwater) by not marketing it to both if it was safe for both.
