I think one of my sword tails has fin rot. At first I thought it was just a nip in his tail, but it's edges are white and noticed it on her side fin as well. A couple fish have slight ich as well.
I got some medication for fin rot, popeye, fungus and ich. It is called Mardel Maracyn. Has anyone ever had any experience with this and do you think it could be harmfull to new fry?

I recently treated my fry who had ich, it was a molly, but the meds didnt effect her. you should also raise your temp because this will help the fish heal and will help to prevent future ich. you will hafta talk to someone else about the tail rot.

fin rot - if it is fungul trhe warm temps help it thrive - it's tough when you have ich though cause you ned warm teemps to kill it quicker - killm ich then try lowering temps a little to combat the tail rot - although it may be bacterial infection not sure what temps that thirves in - sure someone else will

Just be sure you have two different episodes here. Columnaris (a bacteria often mistaken as fungus)can form small white tufts on the fins and body of a fish that may look like ich.
Maracyn doesn't claim to cure ich (to my knowledge) so I'll assume you have two seperate medicines? If so, what is the other? It generally isn't a good idea to mix meds. What fish do you have in the tank and what size tank is it? What's your temperature in the tank (not YOUR temp, the water temp! Like you would actually get into your tank  ).
I haven't had experience with Maracyn but others have!

big fan of aquarium salt for both ich and finrot. I just mix a little up in a little cup, and pour it in the tank. I don't measure, so you may want to get a precise dose from someone...it varies for my tanks..ten gallon, I put in about a tablespoon mixed in two cups of water, poured into the tank.
