Looks like he had a tough fight or got hit by something. that Right antler is snapped off pretty far back. Beautiful shot though, it's always cool when you can get up close to a majestic creature.

those are sooooooooooo nice!! I have 2 doe's (I think they're doe's) visit my back fence every night looking for apples. The area behind me is wooded with a creek running through, and a little girlscout house off to the left. These woods are situated at a good area where the deer never make it to the road but they sure do visit the back a lot. I think the girlscouts also leave food out for them, they were chowing on bread crumb piles on the porch the other day and yesterday I saw a pile of apples at the edge of the creek.

Those are beautiful shots! Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, we had a sad encounter with a deer over the weekend. We were headed into town this past Sunday, and a deer ran in front of the truck and my husband hit it straight on. It came out of a small wooded area so fast that he didn't even have a chance to hit his breaks. Poor thing must have died instantly. We did pull over and the only thing my husband could do was move it to the side. The sad part was that not only did the hit scare my 3 year old son, but when he saw the deer lying on the road, he cried the rest of the way into town saying "Dad hit Bambi" I didn't know what to tell him except it was an accident. When we drove back home, it was gone. Somebody must have picked it up. I always thought you wern't supposed to take them home. Anyways, just a little warning to all. Believe those signs that say "deer next 2 miles (or whatever miles)" Their there for a reason.

I was in oregon a few weeks ago for work. The house we were working on was right on the rogue river and there were blacktails everywhere. I stepped out the back door and had one run past me at about 3 feet away!! It's really cool to get that close to these guys. Were you hunting, or just shooting it with your camera?

He look tasty. My sister-in-law is getting married opening weekend so my father-in-law and I are trying to figure out how we are going to get our hunting in...

You mean you're trying to figure out how to tell them you wont be there? :D

A guy goes to the stanley cup and makes his way to his seat. Front row at center ice!!! He notices the seat next to him is empty. He asks the old man the next seat over if he knows why it's empty. The old man replies "my wife and I always got these two seats every year, but alas she died a week ago today." Not knowing what else to say, the guy asks the old man "you couldn't find a friend or family member to come with you?" The old man looks up with a tear in his eye and says "nope, there all at the funeral."
