Currently the inhabitants are two wood frog tadpoles.

This tank has no filter or heater, it is just sitting on my deck full of algae.

I plan on growing the tadpoles out into frogs and releasing them.

It is okay if I just keep them in this tank and let it fill with rainwater for replenishment?

When the frogs metamorph it happens very fast (like overnight). One day they will have full tails and leggs, the next morning they will have absorbed thier tails and need to get onto dry land (I killed a few toad tadpoles this way). I would also make sure the tank dosn't get any direct sun, and check it if you don't get rain for a few days.

Gambusia, I am not to sure, I would assume this would over heat or get to cool depending on the weather. If you have the space bring them in, and put on a filter, I am sure that would be much healthier for them, than doing it that way, unless you place them in that 150 gal container of yours.
 
They were collected from a muddy puddle.

I understand they need land when the morph.
