Ok....what in ternations are these guys? Definately going to try and get better pics of them. Small and fast. Not planara. I don't think they are a copepod. You tell me? They move around like roaches!

Briggs, Shrimp and Oto's. The shrimp pay them no never mind that I observed.

Wow! I have never seen anything like that and would be really curious to find out what they are. Do they have faces? I can't tell from the pic. Maybe they will look more famililar to some people with the clearer pics. Good luck. :)

Hard to tell from the pics, but could they be scuds? I get a couple here & there from lfs plants...

Having spent a good half hour googling every descriptive term I could think of--"freshwater aquarium pest" to "freshwater larva" to "freshwater capsule-shaped organism" I can only admit defeat. Can't find anything looking remotely like your beastie there.

all I can suggest is that you capture and isolate as many as you can, and try to see what if anything they grow up to be. The usual questions: what new creature, plant, object, animal vegetable or mineral has been put in the tank in the last, oh, let's say 2 months? My guess it it's something that could hide in plant roots but it could have been a cyst or egg at that point and the "roach" form is a later developmental stage.

I can firmly assert without fear of contradiction, it beats hell outta me. And that I do not want anything of the sort near me. /spreads garlic around tank room and sprinkles with boric acid. :)

how far is that zoomed?

It was shot using the little Olympus Stylus. Just about 2 inches away on macro setting.

I'm going to get the SLR with macro lenses and see if I can get anything better. But...I haven't figured out how to use them lenses yet. :)

And not mention the eggs that are in the picture too.
