I have two angle fish. They were really tiny when I got them. One has grown double in size in just a couple of weeks. The other has barely grown at all. He dosen't have the giant appitite that the big one has, he eats, but not alot. Now the big one is starting to chase him away causing him to eat even less. Should I separate them and encourage the little one to eat and grow and then put him back or should I take one back to the store, if so which one? some one once told me to always get rid of the more aggressisive one but I kind of like them both. Should I just leave them together? Or maybe I have to set up a whole other tank!

Wow, lots of tanks! I envy ya ...

If you got the two angels at the same time and their growth rates are markedly different, it might be that the small one wasn't entirely healthy when you got him. I'd think they'd both be growing at the same rate. If he's lagging behind and not eating well, he's probably got something wrong going on. If so, the stress from the other angel isn't going to help. How's the smaller one's behavior in general? No signs of illness?

Another tank for the small one (so he can recover from the stress) would be a good idea for the time being.

thanks for replying.

His general health seemed ok when I got him and he still is alert and active. It looks like the other one is keeping him away from the food and hogging it to himself. I do have a place to put him until he catches up but it's only a 5 1/2 gallon tank however the angle fish is only the size of a quarter.

I seem to have this same problem. I moved my Angels into a 10 Gallon temporarily before I left for a 3 week vacation(my fish were under my brother's care). When I came back one of the angels was about 1.5 times bigger than before and the other grew a little but not as big as the other. They are still friends and seem very healthy as well. Could it be different sexes? I don't know. Good Luck and if the problem persists you might have to seperate them to see if the other will grow in another tank.
