FYI, the bacteria that converts ammonia to nitrite is called nitrosomonas. The bacteria that converts nitrite into nitrate is called nitrobacter.

Actually, more recent evidence is that nitrosomas and nitribacter aren't that important in FW aquaria. Nitrospira seem more implicated... can't find the links right now to several scientific papers discussing that, but perhaps someone will post them.

Salt?
I am still fishless in my 29g, its been 2 weeks now. My question is on the salt. I bought some from my lfs, how much goes in the 29g? And do I put in it now or wait till I stock? Also, since the 2.5g's are almost completly cycled should I put any in them? Almost there....... WOO HOO
