I Just Got A Ticket!!...

Encouraging anyone to violate the law is a no-no on this site. Keep that in mind, B2F.

Oh and $109 is crazy for a ticket... Last year when I lived in Illinois, a fishing license was $13 good from March to March. Seattle, Washington huh...That ranger must have thought he was in Washington D.C....He probably thought you were getting smart with him when you asked about having to take a test...I think you tested his patience..Well the little patience he had.

The ranger was probably overworked. Here in Washington we have a serious problem with people fishing without a liscense. There are just way too many people here who do it. I once was fishing off the bridge where I-90 crosses Moses Lake and there is a walkway next to the freeway on its own bridge. The bridge was so crowded you could not hardly find any room to fish. There musta been 40 or 50 people in an area about 30 yards long and 5 feet wide. We were catching trout like mad. Then the game warden came down and by the time he was done it was just me and 2 other guys left on the bridge. We were the only ones who had liscenses, except for 1 couple who had 3 walleye that were under the minimum size.

just a random thought, would there be a lesser penalty due to Tips age? I mean, anyone under 18 gets their name kept out of the media for some crimes.... perhaps because Tip is not an adult (not 18 yet).

It will really depend on his attitude. Most judges kinda have that "back in my day" mindset that can really be frustrating for a kid. They tend to be a little more harsh just because they forgot how kids act. But, if he is polite and not whiny then he should be ok.

Wow, been awhile since i been back. But let me update.

I went to court. It was a open hearing, and everyone around me was convicted for Drugs of some short, and DUI. The judge laughed when he found out i was there for a fishing ticket, and i told him i never knew you needed a license and i have baught one to prove i am willing to buy one if i knew. Now the judge was nice and just let me off with a fee of 80$

As nice as the judge was...

I think the whole ticket thing was a scam.
Because no matter what i do, i would still end up paying 100+. Because the license it self was 30, and the court fee was 90.

You got off light, TipStylez. I've been checked by the game wardens numerous times, in my boat and onshore. The minimum fine for fishing without a license is $250.00. In Texas we can keep 1 redfish over the slot limit per year and have to tag it. Last spring a guy on our softball team was fined $2,900.00 for possessing an oversized redfish. They charged him for the illegal fish AND for the fry they have to stock to replace the fish's spawns.
