I just got a ticket today, for somthing retarded.

It was for fishing with out a license, and the ranger was being a ***** cause he was all yellin at me how im suppose to have a license.

He didnt even give me a warning, i didnt even catch anything and how could i know you need a license? Im only 17!!

Anyone know how to fight this in court? He could of atleast gave me a warning cause i didnt even know you need a license for this, i thought you had to need one for a boat..

I wouldnt mind getting a ticket, but for $109!! Speeding dosnt even cost that much!...And your putting other people in danger..not that fish is nothing important, but people fish everyday.

midigate the ticket, appear in court, and argue infront of a judge. its not like a big formal courtroom, its just a little room and everyone who wants to argue similar tickets is in the room and waits their turn and you go up and tell the judge your story.

how do i know when to go to court? Cause i looked on the ticket and it dosnt state a date or anything about court.

you mark on the ticket that you want to midigate, then mail it in to the city, then they mail you back when your court date is.

btw, you can get fishing licences anywhere that sells fishing supplies (walmart, white elephant, most any sporting goods store) and also be sure to pick up the rules. this will tell you what the limits are at different lakes on different fish, size limits, whether you can chum or not, etc.

you got lucky you only got a $109 fine. over here in eastern washington they will fine you $100 for EACH FISH you catch and confiscate all your gear.

Yeah, you should be glad its only $109, When i was salmon fishing a few years back some guys got fined over $1000 and then got all their gear taken, plus they couldnt even keep the fish.

Fish and Wildlife is really really strict some times, im only 16 and they yelled at me for holding my uncles pole while he was taking a drink of water.

i wonder why they are so strict over this...i can understand a fishing ls is a good idea from keeping people from overfishing, but a fine tha texpensive?

Most fines arnt as high and they are way more worse.

They are not strict because of a few individuals that go fishing once in a while, they are strict to keep track of how may people are fishing, and to make sure people are not over fishing or removing threatened /endangered fish. It also helps to keep control of commercial fishing. Remember thousand if not millions of people may be fishing ever year in your state.

Although it is too bad that you did not get a warning, but ignorance dose not often work as an excuse for breaking the law. However, if you go to court ad the ranger dose not come too, they may let you off. If you go to court and the judge/magistrate says your guilty you may have to pay a fine and court costs. It may have a lot to do with the personality of the judge/magistrate. Being a minor should help your case.

You can also get a license at the Town Hall

My guess is...If you take it to court, the judge is gonna tell you that EVERYONE KNOWS you need a fishing license to fish. Everybody knows that...ignorance is not an excuse and they will make you pay the fine plus court costs which could be more than a hundred bucks. If I were you, I would pay the ticket and next time make sure you have the fishing license.
