I know I'm a discus but what kind am I?

I got this little baby from a LFS about 2 months ago at about 1.5"
He is now about 3" and doing great but still in QT.
I can't seem to figure out what kind of discus he is
He is golden brown with blue/green striations.

I think it might be a close link to a wild brown. He has been golden brown since he was a baby. I think the golden snake skin is a little to yellow/orange
 
I will not believe that fish is F1 from a wild. I do not think it is wild at all.

I'll buy Golden Snakeskin or White Snakeskin, but I would not bet on it.

I think this one is too dark to be yours but here is another similar not sure how big yours is but these are 3". I don't know how much discus colors change as they get older so maybe??

Here's a golden from another site, I think it depends on where you get them as to the color variations cause these are a little different then the first I believe.

there is no pigeon in it and I never thought it was a F1 but one bred from a brown.
It isn't a San Merah , this is an adult San Merah.

IME by the time the fish is about 3" his color is close to that of an adult fish.

No I agree 100% not San Merah after I got the post up and looked back at yours I figured you'd think I was nuts! OMG now I want a discus tank....I was going to set one up one time but me and my "oh poor fish I'll give you a home" syndrome, I ended up with African cichlids instead I don't regret taking them they are wonderful and I wouldn't trade them for anything and what was odd about it was I got them from 2 different ppl, one was going to FLUSH them b/c they were too aggressive (DUH their cichlids) the other had them in the OSCAR tank for FEEDERS!!!!! But I forgot until this thread just how much I REALLY wanted DISCUS! If my cousin EVER finishes the stand for my 75 (which looks like I may just end up doing myself) that tank no matter what is going to be discus!!! Sorry for the ramble there anyway I love your fish and am envious:silly:

  • The outer edge of the dorsal, anal and pelvic fins is mostly red
  • The pectoral fins are clear.
  • The Green Discus has 9 evenly spaced vertical lines on the body
  • The Green Discus has red eyes.
  • The most famous Green Discus is the Tefe Green, which originates from Rio Tefe.
  • Green Discus are often mistaken for Brown Discus, however can usually be distinguished by the red spotting on the body of the Green Discus.
At 3" your discus is still a baby and does not have it's full adult coloration yet. You got him 2 months ago at 1.5" so he was maybe 2 months old then, making him about 4 months old now. His color will change a lot yet.
