hold the phone here. You're ranting about a shipment of non-live goods 3 days after it was shipped? I fail to see the issue here. I could understand if it was a week, or even two, but 3 days?
as for Delivery Confirmation Numbers... Kinda self-explanatory. If they were intended for tracking packages.. They'd be called Tracking Numbers.
Next time you want a package to get there yesterday, try overnight shipping (and make sure to ask for a tracking number). Or you could just pick it up yourself.
Afraid I'm going to have to agree with J double R here. I order all of my dry goods from Ken's fish. Always use USPS priority with tracking. I get a full tracking report online, and the stuff arrives as expected every time. I have been doing this with Ken for years now. In that time I have lived in 3 different parts of CT and also a couple of years in the Boston area. No issues at all.
I have a Fahaka puffer on it's way to me via Express mail tonight. I just checked and it has been processed already and has left the initial office where it was dropped off.
Delivery confirmation is a service for the sender not the addressee. It is a means to provide proof that the package was delivered or an attempt was made and the addressee did not respond. As has been said if you choose to use the cheaper way of shipping you run the risks that go along with it. The USPS services are notorious for being delayed, but I have never had any issues. I'll post here for when my fahaka arrives if you like.
