And since I live with men and don't care about March Madness I've had a lot of time to just sit and stare at it lately. :D JK I stare at it even when my shows are on LOL.

It's a 55 ga... I'm not quite done stocking it because I want to go slow... here's a few pics of it

I love my bamboo

and I dont' know how well it shows up, but I love my bubble wall too. I think it's 28 inches or so, but one half works much better than the other haha. I kinda like that about it too.

I have a few questions... or maybe a lot of them.

Is there too much movement of air in the tank? I have the bubble wall and then this cliche (but I still like him) scuba man who opens this treasure chest every few seconds and releases big air bubbles.. I guess the filter moves the water some too....

My speckled cory LOVES the bubble wall. He spends a ton of time in it going up and down and 'playing' I've even seen the albino cory, the bloodfin tetras, the giant deformed danio, and others though not as often as these listed swimming in the bubbles and then turning around for some more. I love watching it, is that what they're doing though? Just 'playing'? It reminds me of a hawk flying into the wind or soemthing.

I have some fat zebra danios... I'm not going to have babies am I? I thought the only live bearers I had were the guppies and they're supposed to all be boys, and I believe they really are! LOL

Do mystery snails breed? I have a dark one, a yellw one, and and Ivory... I thought the dark one was dead because he wasn't attached to anything and I flipped him over so he could get moving and left for work, but when I got home he was still just laying there not attached at all. I almost took him out but got distracted and next time I looked he was moving. How do I know for sure when a snail is dead?

The only live plants in the tank are 2 bamboo stalks. They look cool. The fake stuff I have serves its purpose but I don't love it. I need to disguise air tubes and then give the shyer fish a place to retreat, so what plants would be good for that, and for a novice like me (no co2 either)

I have a few 'shy' fish. One of the 3 tiger barbs is spending a lot of time in the corner with the plants while the other two swim like I'd imagine is normal. Same with the smallest zebra danio and one of the tetras. They come out sometimes but not like the rest of their kind.

My julii cory is out less than the other two corys too, but he's out more at night, so I'm assuming that's normal and he's not a mornign person?

I thought my giant danio needed a school, btu he was alone at the fish store other than small community fish like mine and hes misshapen. The guy that sold him to us didn't seem concerned that there were no other giants for him to swim with... I'm pretty sure I still have plenty of room for all of them whether he needs 3 or 5 or whatever to be happy. Are fish funny with funny looking schoolmates? Will a giant swim with zebra danios? He kinda does his own thing as it is...

On the way home with the guppies, one of them looked kinda grey and really boring. Now that he's home and has been for a while, he kinda changed to having a darker tail and blueish and yellow accents. What caused him to get so much prettier?

My bf likes the albino tiger barbs a lot. Will they school with the regular tigers too? Who else would make fun additions? I'd like a small pleco of some kind also. One that actually stays kinda small for a pleco that is.

Also, do fish 'sleep' and do they see in color?

OK I'm done for now :lipssealedsmilie:

Nice tank!

The tiger barbs will school, regardless of the color variations...they will need to be kept in a large school to spread their aggression, and even then, they will nip at long finned and slower fish.

The giant danio would most likely be better off with more and they will be fine with the barbs.

The bubble wand is cool...if you like the look keep it. Many fish love to play in the bubbles...it doesn't hurt anything unless you are dosing CO2.

Fish do take a restive period (sleep) in which they will be less active and fade in color a bit.

You've done a nice job! More interesting than TV, for sure. My wife wanted a diver with air bubbles, but I wanted a more natural look, so we compromised on a Charlie-the-Tuna 'No Fishing' sign in bright blue, which means my wife won, let's face it. Nothing natural about a tuna wearing spectacles :(

The air bubbles give movement and the sparkles catch the eye, as well as giving a current in which your fish enjoy playing. Hey, even they think the tank beats TV! LOL

Yayy! I love the bubbles, and I'm glad they're good for everyone... not just me. My dogs were freaking out about the scuba man the first night. he made the biggest noise of all with his big bubbles I guess. My cats couldn't be happier to have a new tv set set to the best station of all either!!

Thank you guys for the compliments and input, also!

I currently have 3 small tiger barbs, so if I get 3 of the albinos is that a large enough school to keep them happy? I'll probably do them and a couple more giant danios, is 2 ok, or do they need to be in bigger groups?

LOL oscar, I saw your tank, it's gorgeous. I like the tuna too, he matches your blue highlight in the gravel and it's cute.... even if you dont like it much. I thought I wanted a natural tank, btu I got a great deal on this one and it had most of these decorations. No plants, but all of the others. I didn't think my bf would let me use the purple gravel, but he liked how it came out in teh end YAAAY!

nice tank!

the trick is to place your tv and tank across from each other so that when you look at the tank you can see the reflection of the tv and watch both at once. . . . lol. works for me.

And of course that way, your fish get to watch TV too.

Nice, very colorfull.......:)

Great start with a nice, big tank. I agree with the others' advice, esp. giving the giant danio some buddies. I have 5 and they swim back and forth together, it's pretty cool.
I love the lucky bamboo, too. Problem is, it needs to be emmersed (partially in water), not immersed (completely in water) or it will rot and die. (Been trying to learn about aquascaping. . . ) With a big tank like that and basic lighting, stick to lowlight plants like hygrophila, water sprite, java moss, anacharis, etc. Good going!!!:)

I like the background the most. Cute barbs!
