Ok guys i need help, i don't know what going on.

I recently added 2 5" blood parrots to a fully cycled 60gal tank.

I also added a new filter, but transfered all the old media to the new filter, plus added more media.

my ammonia is at 4 now!, its been 5 days, and is not going down. in the beginning i saw some nitrite, did some water changes to keep that down, and now it as been at 0 for a few days (nitrite at 0 that is)

but my ammonia will not go down!
i was under the assumption it would take a day or two since the tank is already cycled.

i need help,i don't want to kill all my fish

oh..and my tap water ammonia is at 1 or greater, so doing water changes won't help the ammonia much

It's called a mini-cycle, every time you add new livestock to a previously cycled tank, the aquarium goes through a min-cycle, a complete cycle, just a smaller amount. It'll be over in a week. That's why people tell you not to add too many fish at one time.

What water conditioner do you use..and what kind of test kit?

Are you using Amquel+ ?

Because that should take care of it.

I had a really bad Ammonia breakout in my saltwater and my fish where going side ways and there color where turning really light and added
Amquel+ and the next day the Ammonia was gone and the fish where back to normal
