i need to dim light's i posted this in marine oops but i need sumthin to dim the light a little

What type of lights? Fluorescents you'll need to filter, incandescents you can add a dimmer. Any HID lighting would likely be too problematic to try to dim - they would be hot for a filter and won't work with a dimmer.

Do you want to dim your lights permanently or just periodically? If you want to dim them permanently you can change the lamps. If they are incandescent change them to a lower wattage. If they are fluorescent change the lamp to a different spectrum. For example if you are using Daylight lamps(around 6500K) change it to a soft white(around 3200K). If you are using any type of HID you can change the lamp to a lower wattage same as incandescent.

If you just want to dim the light periodically it is a whole new ballgame. Incandescent cam be dimmed with a relatively inexpensive dimmer. But Fluorescent and HID require a special "dimming" ballast and they can be very expensive.

if you have a planted aquarium and don't need to dim them much, try a good cover of floating plants. we had trouble in a tank with too much light...the plants loved it and the fish didn't...kinda worked itself out

light dimming

try covering the glass protectors with clear postal packing tape then take a semi dark magic marker or a plastic see through folder that goes in a binder wich you can buy in several different colors.
