One of my bettas keeps going up against the heater and lying up against it upside down. She's still alive, like I'll go in there and push her off and she'll swim around for a while, sometimes she'll sit at the bottom of the tank. But when I come back she's back there, stuck up against it, upside down. I think she totally likes it for some weird reason.

Is she dying and just doing something weird???

upside down ?

does not sound good/normal.

What size tank/what are inhabitants & how old is fish ? Anything added recently ? How often do you change water/gravel vac ? Can you test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate with a good liquid test kit ? What temp is tank at ?

Sorry lots of questions - but more info required to help.

Don't know if she's dying or not but my betta (male) does some VERY strange things. He will wrap himself around the filter intake, pin himself vertically between the heater and glass, smother my Brig with is fins, and so on. Theres a very good chance your betta is just being a betta. Check you water parameters though but probably nothing to worry about.

edit: I 've never owned a female so I don't have any experience with their behavior.

It's a 30 gallon tank. There are ten neons and one more betta in the tank with her. I just did a gravel vac and I changed the water about five days ago. I only have an ammonia test kit. The last time I went to the store I forgot to get a nitrite/nitrite test kit (grr!). And the tank is at 82 degrees.

That makes me feel better!!!

p.s. I'm trying to introduce my male betta to his 10 gallon tank that I got for him but when i put him in there he just stays by the side and looks at the glass. I think he sees himself in it. He kind of looks freaked out and then eventually he starts to attack the glass!

What should I do for that??

I put him back in his old tank for now. I didn't want him hurting himself. Should I just have him in there and wait for him to get over it??

he is not going to hurt himself by attacking the glass. mine did that for the first week but after that he would just flare every now and then.
